Write for Us

Malaysia Brief carries the views of practising lawyers alongside the news. Give your view on a story, write a column, or volunteer for an interview, and reach readers across Malaysia.

What you get

Every published piece carries your name, photo, firm and a short bio. Your pieces are also collected on your own profile page on Malaysia Brief, which you are welcome to share.

How it works

  1. Send your piece with the form below. To respond to a particular story, use the “Give your view” button at the end of it.
  2. Our editors check your details against the Malaysian Bar directory and review the piece.
  3. We may edit for length, clarity and accuracy. For columns, we send you the edited version before it goes up.
  4. Once approved, it is published with your profile and we email you the link.

Before you write

  • Write in your personal capacity. Your piece shares general information and your own views; it is not legal advice to readers.
  • Keep client matters out of it, and leave out anything confidential.
  • Do not comment on cases still before the courts in a way that could prejudice them.
  • Keep within the publicity rules that apply to you, such as the Legal Profession (Publicity) Rules 2025: do not call yourself an expert, compare yourself with other lawyers, mention fees or results, or invite readers to engage you.
  • Send original work that has not been published elsewhere, and cite the Acts and cases you rely on.
  • Pieces are published in the language you write in. If you agree, we may translate yours for our other edition, and you approve the translation first.
