Seven Acts passed at Parliament’s previous meeting have received the royal assent, Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor announced on 5 October 2026 at the start of the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament.

The seven Acts are:

  • Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Act 2026
  • Sexual Offences Against Children (Amendment) Act 2026
  • National Trust Fund Act 2026
  • Road Transport (Amendment) Act 2026
  • Witness Protection (Amendment) Act 2026
  • Communications and Multimedia (Amendment) Act 2026
  • Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Amendment) Act 2026

The laws were passed during the meeting held from 22 June to 16 July. After royal assent, an Act is published in the Gazette and comes into force on the date it specifies or on a date appointed by the minister. The Road Transport (Amendment) Act 2026 has since taken effect, on 16 October.

The current meeting runs for 37 days, until 8 December. Budget 2027 was tabled on 9 October, and the House is also expected to debate the Auditor-General’s Report 2/2026, select committee reports and other bills.

Malaysia Brief will explain the main changes in each Act as it comes into force.
