Submit an Article

Submissions are reviewed before publication. Every article goes to the Malaysia Brief editors first. Nothing appears on the site automatically, and we check the Acts, sections and cases you cite before an article goes live.

Malaysia Brief publishes articles from practising lawyers, HR practitioners, business owners, academics and law students. If you have a legal update, a recent decision or a practical insight that readers in Malaysia should know about, we would like to read it.

What we publish

We publish updates on new and amended legislation, plain-language summaries of court decisions, and explainers on employment and industrial relations, family law, company law and shareholder disputes, civil and commercial litigation, and construction disputes. Commentary on legal developments that affect businesses and working people is also welcome. Articles may be written in English or Chinese, and 600 to 1,500 words works best.

How editorial review works

  1. Submit your article through the form below.
  2. Our editors read every submission and verify the legislation and cases cited.
  3. We may edit for clarity, length and accuracy, and we will send you the edited version before it is published.
  4. Selected articles are published under Contributed Articles with your name and short bio. We will email you when it goes live.

Before you submit

The article should be your own original work. If it has appeared elsewhere, tell us where so we can credit the first publication. Do not include client-confidential information; anonymise the facts where needed. Write as general information rather than advice on a specific case, and name the Act, section or case you rely on so the editors can verify it. By submitting, you grant Malaysia Brief a non-exclusive licence to publish and share the article on this website and its social media channels with your byline. You keep the copyright in your work.

Submission form

We will reply to this address if your article is selected.
