Perikatan Nasional on Thursday night unveiled five of the six candidates it will field in the Nov 14 Melaka state election, leaving its choice for Kota Laksamana to be announced later.

Wawasan’s Dr Yadzil Yaakub will defend the Bemban seat, while Melaka Gerakan chief Michael Gan will take on DAP in Ayer Keroh, one of the party’s strongholds.

PAS will field Hang Tuah Jaya PAS committee member Ridzuan Sarif in Bukit Katil and Rafie Ahmad in Paya Rumput, while Wawasan’s Albert Kok will contest Kesidang.

PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar told the coalition’s campaign workers to also help Barisan Nasional candidates in seats PN is not contesting, saying the goal is to form a strong state government together with BN and to build momentum ahead of the next general election.

Nomination is set for this Saturday, with early voting on Nov 10 and polling on Nov 14.

In the 2021 state election, BN won 21 of the 28 seats, Pakatan Harapan took five and PN two.
